Meet our Newest Addition!

If you guessed ‘boy’, you were right! I think at least fifteen people told me that.  It is a boy, meet little Timmy, born November 17th at 5:59 am. Weighing 7 pounds and 7 ounces, 19.5 inches long.I am so excited to be a mom of two! Even with little to no sleep. The past two weeks have been a blur, but a much ‘clearer’ blur than with the first baby. This is no longer unknown territory. For baby E’s birth I was practically in a subconscious realm because of the pain. For baby T’s birth I remember everything so clearly. Second births are easier for most, but I have to attribute a lot of the ease to having a water birth. What a huge difference it made for us personally, I would not consider a land birth again unless I had no choice!

From the moment labor started to the very end I felt such peace. Mixed with overwhelming gratitude for such a beautiful experience, what I prayed and hoped for. What I wanted with the first birth, but didn’t exactly get.

I didn’t want to settle for average or okay. I really wanted something special. Special takes a lot of work though! A lot of research, some phone calls, some conversations with other moms, but mostly faith and prayer. What you dream of isn’t usually handed to you on a plate, it takes some work. Then it takes courage to accept anything that was not in your plans.

I wish for every mother to have the birth she dreams of. I wish for every mother to know that giving birth does not have to be scary, it can be beautiful. I wish every mom knew her options when it comes to birth. Yes, things may not always go as planned, but we can dream – can’t we?
